Job Description

Our client is looking for a Project Manager to join their team who will be based onsite and will focus on tracking the Lodge’s project goals, aligning internal and external teams to ensure projects on the reserve are implemented according to budget and ensuring timelines for effective project management. The role involves managing the planning, execution and completion of projects such as guest lodges, staff housing, roads, water infrastructure and fencing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Execution:
    Plan, coordinate, and oversee construction of lodges, staff housing, viewing decks, roads, fences and other infrastructure within the reserve, ensuring alignment with environmental and management guidelines.

  • Site Management:
    Supervise daily on-site operations, crews and subcontractors to ensure quality workmanship and minimal environmental impact.

  • Budget & Procurement:
    Prepare budgets, track costs, source materials and negotiate with suppliers to ensure cost-effective project delivery.

  • Compliance & Safety:
    Enforce health, safety, and environmental standards; conduct risk assessments and ensure minimal disruption to wildlife and ecosystems.

  • Quality Assurance & Maintenance:
    Ensure structural integrity through quality control, conduct inspections and plan ongoing maintenance.

  • Stakeholder Coordination:
    Report progress to management and conservation teams and address technical challenges or delays promptly.

Qualifications
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Min 3 years experience in construction project management, preferably in remote, wildlife conservation, or eco-tourism environments.
  • Knowledge of sustainable building materials and low-impact construction techniques.
  • Experience in small-scale infrastructure, including wooden structures, eco-lodges, boreholes, fencing, and solar-powered installations.
  • Drivers license is essential.
Skills
  • Proven project management experience
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of construction processes such as bricklaying, cement work etc
  • Knowledge of project management and reporting to ensure legislative compliance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in order to liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
