Job Description

A leading wilderness training provider is seeking passionate and experienced Field Guide Instructors to join their dynamic teams in various remote bush camp locations across Mpumalanga.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate accredited field guide training programs aligned with FGASA and CATHSSETA standards.
Mentor and assess students in both theoretical and practical bush competencies.
Lead guided bush walks and game drives for educational purposes.
Deliver training modules on ecology, conservation, animal behaviour, tracking, birding and safety.
Maintain high standards of bush camp discipline, ethics and environmental responsibility.
Contribute to camp logistics, vehicle maintenance and general bush operations as needed.

Qualifications

FGASA NQF Level 2 (Apprentice Field Guide) minimum; Level 4 or Professional Field Guide would be advantageous.
FGASA Backup or Lead Trails Guide qualification highly advantageous.
Valid First Aid Level 1 or higher.
Valid PDP and driver’s license.
Minimum 2–3 years’ guiding or training experience in a Big 5 environment.

Skills

Passion for conservation, education and mentorship.
Strong communication, leadership and bush-craft skills.

Salary/Package

R23 000 – R35 000 depending on qualifications and experience
