Job Description

Lodge Manager roles and responsibilities: 

Supervise preparation and presentation of all meals, Serve and host guests during meal times, Ensure and maintain standards and presentation for all meals, Ensure and maintain levels of service at the lodge, Manage lodge staff and ensure all work is complete to the required standard, Ensure order and cleanliness of kitchen, pantries, wine store, garden and the lodge in general
Manage inventory levels and stock control, Assist in planning and ordering stock of all foods, groceries, drinks, cleaning materials, Ensure the lodge is cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis while the guests are in camp, Ensure cleanliness of each tent while guests are staying in the accommodation, Manage laundry and cleaning of all linen, Welcome guests on arrival to the lodge, Check-in guests to the lodge and all associated tasks, Rooms checks, Check-out guests and all associated tasks, Constantly manage and improve the guest experience by providing unique services, special gifts of interest and friendly hospitality, Report on any lodge maintenance as needed, and ensure it is completed by the relevant department, Assist to maintain and manage Nights Bridge system, Correspond with guests making enquiries and bookings, Draft and send pro-forma invoices to guests, Follow up on outstanding deposits and payments, to ensure guest payment are up to date, Assist with month end tasks, Sending slips to finance department, Assist with petty cash management, Manage the curio shop and payments for items, Maintain and manage the leave schedule as needed, Reconcile and organise invoices needed for payment and sending invoices through to finance department to process payments, Assist with any marketing related activities, Assist with any administrative task as needed by the general manager or finance manager, Assume responsibility for all lodge related tasks when the general manager is on leave. Trails Guide roles and responsibilities: 

Conduct an advanced game drive experience daily, Conduct walking safaris or specialist activity, Host guests at certain meals and other relevant times, Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of vehicles and equipment/assets, Carry out stand by duties and other activities undertaken for guests, Perform duties as required by the Field Guide Department, Work independently and professionally.
Photographic skills necessary
Birding knowledge necessary
Full trails guide or very close to finishing their qualification

Qualifications

  • Matric
  • Diploma in Hospitality Management
  • FAGASA Certified

Skills

Trails Guide: Photographic skills necessary, Birding knowledge necessary, Full trails guide or very close to finishing their qualification, Minimum 3 years experience in 5 star safari lodges. Lodge Anchor, Reservations Manager: Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role, excellent knowledge of payroll, reservations and Microsoft office systems. Diploma in Hospitality Management.

Salary / Package

R18000 - R20000 (As a couple)
