Job Description

Our client, a growing short stay accommodation brand is currently seening an Accountant/Senior Bookkeeper. This will be a new (additional) position as the FM needs to split the current portfolio. The person will primarily be responsible for all accounting functions for 5 of their 10 operational companies in addition to some other ad hoc financial functions.

The accounting system is Xero and is cloud based. This role will be based at Head Office in Bryanston but some travelling to the various sites in Limpopo and Mpumalanga might be required. A 3 month probation period will be applicable.

Reporting to: Financial Manager

Assist with various aspects of procurement functions, as required and instructed by manager, including but not limited to:

  • Preparing and maintaining financial records and transactions of various operational companies ensuring information is up to date and accurate.
  • Process weekly supplier / creditor payments and manage accounts payable. (No debtors involved as company works on a no pay, no stay system.)
  • Recording and categorizing expenses/payments and disbursements.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a weekly basis.
  • Process payroll and leave transactions and ensure all payroll taxes are paid on time.
  • Processing of EMP 201 returns on e-filing.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset resister and process depreciation monthly.
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts monthly.
  • Examining financial records / reports for accuracy and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Respond to financial and provide support to operational site managers as needed.
  • Perform variance analyses and prepare account reconciliations.
  • Finding and addressing any discrepancy in accounting
  • Recording payments and disbursements
  • Assist Financial Manager in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting.

Working Hours: 45 hours per week

 

Qualifications

Formal accounting qualification is preferable but not essential if well experienced and able to carry out the required tasks set out.

Skills

Minimum 2 years experience in same role managing multiple units/companies. Strong Working Knowledge and experience on Xero Accounting System. Must be computer literate i.e. proficient in basic computer skills and ability to quickly learn other support computer systems Able to meet deadlines. Punctual. Organised. Attention to detail. Proven track record of accuracy, efficiency, and identifying cost savings. Team player.

Salary / Package

R20,000-R26,000 Gross per Month
