Analyze maintenance practices and optimize (reactive vs planned vs predictive).
Develop and implement maintenance improvement plans aligned with business goals.
Optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
Reduce breakdowns and unplanned downtime through systematic improvements.
Support or implement Reliability-Centered Maintenance
Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA / RCA) on major and recurring failures.
Identify chronic equipment issues.
Improve MTBF and MTTR to improve equipment reliability.
Maintenance Planning & Scheduling Improvement
Coach and mentor artisans, planners, and supervisors.
Drive behavioural change towards proactive maintenance.
Assist with training needs identification and competency
Work closely with: Operations, Engineering, Commercial,OEMs and Suppliers.
Qualifications
Grade 12 and NQF level 6 engineering qualification
Project management certificate
Supervisory certificate in engineering
Qualified engineering artisan with valid trade certificate or equivalent will be added advantage
Skills
Minimum 5 years relevant experience as Maintenance and Improvement Specialist within an opencast mining and process plant environment
Must be Computer literate (Intermediate Microsoft Office Package).
Experience in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
System orientated (i.e. SAP, Ellipse, SAGE or KARABO PM) or similar experience.
Valid driver’s license code 08
