Your duties will encompass:

• Manage and oversee direct reports, ensuring high levels of performance, accountability and employee development.
• Provide strategic operational support to the business through effective operational governance and leadership.
• Manage rail operations and rail safety activities to ensure safe and efficient execution of operational requirements.
• Oversee specialist operational support functions and service providers to ensure operational excellence and compliance.
• Manage contractor performance and contractual obligations to ensure service delivery standards are achieved.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, company policies and operational procedures.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, productivity and governance.
• Monitor and manage operational risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
• Support the implementation and management of rail reform initiatives and their impact on operational processes.
• Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships with Transnet Freight Rail (TFR), Rail Safety Regulator (RSR), Train Operating Companies (TOCs) and other key stakeholders.
• Develop and implement operational strategies aligned to business objectives.
• Prepare and present operational reports, recommendations and performance metrics to senior management.
• Ensure effective operational planning, coordination and execution across all areas of responsibility.
