Job Description

Our client is seeking a Senior Commercial Underwriter to join their team.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Commercial Lines Manager, with exposure to EXCO-level engagement in Johannesburg.

You will be responsible for:

  • Commercial underwriting within engineering insurance portfolios
  • Handling UMA and/or insurer-based underwriting processes
  • Managing day-to-day underwriting operations within a commercial book
  • Engaging in risk assessment and policy structuring
  • Supporting business underwriting requirements in line with insurer standards
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and senior management
Qualifications
  • RE qualification preferred (not essential depending on experience)
Skills

The successful candidate will have:

  • 5–10 years’ experience in commercial underwriting
  • Must have experience within UMA or an insurer environment
  • Strong commercial underwriting background (engineering insurance advantageous)
  • Strong technical underwriting capability and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a structured, in-office environment
Salary/Package
R20,000 – R40,000 (depending on experience) + performance bonus (discretionary)
