Job Description
Your job responsibilities will be the following below:
Work across multiple MEP projects, ensuring accurate and professional documentation.
Develop and maintain 3D Revit models for electrical building services. This includes small power, cable tray/containment routing, lighting layouts, distribution board (DB) placements, emergency backup/UPS systems, solar PV, and lightning protection systems.
Generate accurate plans, single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematic diagrams, sections, detail callouts, and schedules from the BIM model for tender, construction, and record purposes
Link architectural, structural, and mechanical (HVAC/wet services) models into the electrical workspace.
Run clash checks (often using Navisworks or BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud) to identify Spatial conflicts—such as electrical cable trays colliding with HVAC ducting, structural beams, or plumbing lines.
Coordinate with electrical engineers and external design teams (architects, MEP consultants) to resolve spatial clashes before construction begins.
Ensure drawing layouts comply with South African National Standards (e.g., SANS 10142-1 for wiring installations), local Cape Town municipal bylaws, and internal company drafting standards.
Manage drawing revision tables, issue sheets, and document control procedures within Common Data Environments (CDE) like Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360.
Qualifications
Matric Certificate
Draughting Qualification (Certificate or higher)
Skills
Minimum 5 years’ experience doing electrical projects, however MEP experience will be considered
Minimum 5 years’ experience in using Revit
Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit
Own reliable transport is required
