Job Description
Your responsibilities will be the following:
Produce detailed mechanical drawings, layouts, fabrication drawings, and assembly drawings from engineering concepts and specifications.
Develop and maintain 2D and 3D CAD models using approved drafting software.
Generate manufacturing and workshop drawings, including bills of materials (BOMs).
Create General Arrangement (GA) drawings and installation drawings.
Work collaboratively with mechanical engineers to develop practical and cost-effective design solutions.
Assist engineers in converting conceptual designs into detailed engineering documentation.
Participate in design reviews and provide input on manufacturability, assembly, and installation considerations.
Support project teams by providing technical drawing packages within project deadlines.
Ensure all drawings are accurate, complete, and issued according to company quality procedures.
Verify dimensions, tolerances, and specifications before final release.
Contribute to process improvements that enhance drafting efficiency and drawing quality.
Qualifications
Matric
Minimum Qualifications: National Diploma, Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Draughting, or a related technical field.
CAD Certification: Formal training in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
Skills
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Mechanical Draughtsman in an engineering, manufacturing, mining, industrial, or construction environment.
Proven experience working closely with engineers on design and development projects.
Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and relevant drafting standards.
Familiarity with welding, machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.
