In this role, reporting to the Project Manager, the Buyer will be responsible for:

• Source and procure construction materials, plant, equipment and services in accordance with project requirements.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from approved and new suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and favourable terms.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules and supplier agreements.
• Raise and manage purchase orders and ensure accurate processing of procurement documentation.
• Monitor stock levels and project requirements to ensure materials are available when required and avoid project delays.
• Liaise closely with Project Managers and Foremen regarding procurement requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Monitor supplier performance, quality, pricing and delivery times.
• Ensure purchased materials comply with project specifications and required quality standards.
• Track orders and deliveries and resolve any delays, shortages or discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier databases.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and alternative products or suppliers without compromising quality.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, budgets and relevant construction requirements.
• Assist with forecasting procurement requirements and project budgets.
• Manage urgent and ad-hoc site purchasing requirements when necessary.
