Job Description

Your job responsibilities will be the following:

  • Manage day-to-day workflow and allocate jobs and resources across the 3 supervisors and their teams
  • Drive on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery of all joinery orders
  • Set and enforce quality standards across all product lines — POS counters, checkout counters, wall units, cosmetic units, jewellery counters, gondolas, etc.
  • Maintain hands-on working knowledge of all substrates used, and ensure they are correctly handled, processed and finished: MDF, chipboard, melamine, laminates, solid surface, glass, Perspex, Duco, 2-Pack (2K) paint finishes, polypropylene and similar materials
  • Directly manage and develop 3 Production Supervisors, and indirectly oversee a workforce of approximately 40 bench hands
  • Set daily and weekly production targets, and hold supervisors and teams accountable for output and quality
  • Manage staff performance, discipline, training and development within the department, in line with company policy
  • Plan shift, overtime and weekend work to meet production demand
  • Ensure the department operates in compliance with Occupational Health &
  • Safety requirements, particularly around woodworking machinery, dust extraction, and handling of substrates
Qualifications
  • Trade-tested Master Craftsman, or an experienced Cabinet Maker with equivalent demonstrable skill
  • Formal qualification in cabinetmaking, joinery, wood technology or a related field is advantageous
Skills
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a high-volume joinery, cabinetmaking or shopfitting manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record managing large production teams (supervisors and bench hands) in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience manufacturing retail shopfitting products such as POS counters, checkout counters, wall units, cosmetic units, jewellery counters and gondolas is highly advantageous
  • Strong, demonstrable ability to read and interpret detailed CAD drawings and technical specifications
  • Sound understanding of manufacturing principles — production planning, workflow optimisation and efficient, high-volume manufacturing
  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge of all relevant substrates: MDF, chipboard, melamine, laminates, solid surface, glass, Perspex, Duco, 2K, polypropylene and similar materials, including their correct handling, processing and finishing
  • Sound knowledge of the machinery, equipment and tooling used in high-volume timber manufacturing
Salary/Package
R35,000-R45,000 CTC PM
